Why the LOCATION is unsuitable for a bigger school
The Gloucester Road site is located between two other busy schools: Carlisle Infant School on Broad Lane and Denmead's Pre-preparatory on Wensleydale Road. All these roads, including Carlisle Road, are heavily used for parking and many residents feel over-burdened by the problems associated with too many cars.
The site is also adjacent to Carlisle Park, a public park used by residents from the whole neighbourhood, but also used as an overspill playing area by the School.
In April 2011, the DNA formed an alliance of neighbours in all roads surrounding the Gloucester Road site: Gloucester Road, Scotts Drive, Carlisle Road, Wensleydale Gardens and Wensleydale Road. The neighbours' survey confirmed the extent of the traffic and parking problems experienced in all the roads. Click here to see summary of survey results

Autumn term 2012 trial of using Carlisle Park as a pupil access
The recent trial of using Carlisle Park as a pupil access has caused a shift of some cars to the Wensleydale Road entrance of Carlisle Park. However, opening new access points simply moves the problem to other areas. The school has yet to disclose how many pupils would continue to use this access and how parking would be controlled without Carlisle Road, Scotts Drive and Wensleydale Gardens experiencing further blockage.
Growth in pupil numbers and traffic would have a knock-on effect on all roads regardless of where access points could be created. It would also increase load on the park from extra use by the School. The neighbours survey demonstrated these concerns.
